One of our main goals is to demystify public policy. To do this, we are utilizing inter-disciplinary techniques, drawing from legal theory, discourse analysis and the social sciences in order to understand how our local government operates. This is built around in-depth primary research: city codes, arrest logs, municipal budgets, land-use maps, naming a few of the sources that Nightingale members have utilized. We then organize this information in ways that help to show large patterns, and then share this with the public. This happens at city council forums, in opinion pieces with the local newspaper and through the production of online ‘memes’. We are committed to using multiple platforms to help educate the public about controlling political relations.
